Preparing For Growth | Financial Advisory Firm
The Challenge
A growing financial advisory firm was preparing to acquire another practice. While the business had built a strong foundation, the founder recognized that growth would introduce new complexity and wanted to ensure the organization was ready to scale successfully.
The initial plan was to hire an operations manager. Before making that investment, the founder wanted to better understand where the business would benefit most.
The Approach
Rather than recommending an immediate hire, I evaluated how work flowed across the organization to identify opportunities that would have the greatest impact on the business as it grew.
Together with the founder, we:
- Clarified team roles and responsibilities
- Better aligned work to individual strengths
- Established guiding principles for how the team works together
- Strengthened communication and decision-making
- Documented key workflows and standard operating procedures
The Outcome
The engagement created greater clarity across the organization and a stronger operational foundation for future growth. Instead of adding another role to solve emerging challenges, the team gained clearer accountability, more consistent ways of working, and scalable processes designed to support the firm's next chapter.
Additionally, throughout the engagement it became clear that the firm's competitive differentiation wasn't as clear as it could be. The work resulted in an updated vision, mission, guiding principles to decisions and how the team works, a new website, and a new brochure to better position them amongst the competition and show what makes them truly unique.
